Initial Thoughts
The Hooten Young Gothic Serpent 30th Anniversary is a pretty big cigar. It’s got a torpedo/belicoso head, but it looks like it’s been slightly flattened out as opposed to coming to a point as is more common.

On the cold draw, the flavors hat a slight hint of cinnamon. After cutting off a decent chunk of the flattened-torpedo tip, the draw was good.
Once lit the flavors were immediately enjoyable. I was able to get hints of dough, bread, leather, spice, and wood. Despite having tons of different flavor notes, the smoke was light on the palate.

Through the middle of the cigar, most of the flavors were of wood, and there was a sort of cayenne heat that lingered on my tongue. In the background, there was some sweetness.

Final Thoughts
I was able to smoke the Hooten Young Gothic Serpent 30th Anniversary for just a hair over 90 minutes, and it was a very enjoyable afternoon. The flavors were good, the construction was good, and there was some nice subtle flavor changes that kept me interested.
In my blind review, I felt like this cigar had the complexity, construction, and refinement of a $20 cigar, but, in fact, it comes in well under that. I enjoyed this cigar, I’d recommend it, and I’d smoke it again. The Hooten Young Gothic Serpent 30th Anniversary earns a CigarScore 5.
