Cigar Review: Bounty Box Alpha Dog

Initial Thoughts:

On occasion, inspiration strikes here at the CigarScore offices. And today, such a thing happened after taking a sip of one of our favorite beers, the St. Bernardus Abt 12. One little taste and I knew I wanted to pair this beer with the Alpha Dog from Bounty-Box.com.

The oily wrapper was marbled and quite premium-looking. After cutting and torching the end, the aroma of the smoke was very smooth. I immediately noticed that the Bounty Box Alpha Dog had a perfect draw, and the flavors I tasted right off the bat were sweet. I tasted floral, almost potpourri notes, cedar, and hints of citrus.

Price: ~ $10.00 – Bounty Box

Wrapper: Costa Rican

As I approached the middle of the Bounty Box Alpha Dog, I started to experience some slight burn issues. Whereas the oily wrapper is nice to look at, I think it might also be a little more moist than the filler tobacco. And, because of this, the Alpha Dog burned faster on the inside than it did on the outside.

However, despite the interesting burn, the draw remained awesome and the flavors still complex and fragrant.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I enjoyed the Bounty Box Alpha Dog. The draw was amazing. The burn was mostly good. And, the flavors were rich and complex.

However, in the final third, the flavors mellowed out significantly and were nowhere near as aromatic as they were in the first two thirds.

All that said, I enjoyed this cigar and would smoke it again. The experience was quite enjoyable, so the Bounty Box Alpha Dog earns a CigarScore 4.
