Cigar Review: Drew Estate Undercrown ShadyXX Belicoso

Initial Thoughts:

One of the first things I noticed about today's cigar for review, the Drew Estate Undercrown ShadyXX Belicoso, is that it's a box-pressed robusto with a torpedo end. While box-pressed robustos are nothing new or revolutionary, you almost never see one with a torpedo tip.

Anyway, the Drew Estate Undercrown ShadyXX is a collaboration between Drew Estate Cigars and the rapper Eminem (aka Slim Shady). And, right off the bat, you'll notice that the ShadyXX's aroma is very similar to other cigars in the Liga Privada line.

After cutting the belicoso end with my guillotine, the Undercrown ShadyXX had a perfect draw, and the pre-light flavors were delicious.

As far as my introduction to the cigar, the Mexican San Andres wrapper is very oily, the flavors were bold, leathery, and spicy, and the perfect draw allowed me to get lots of smoke to fully taste what this ShadyXX version of the Liga Undercrown had to offer. If you like the Undercrown Maduro, you're likely to enjoy this one, too.

Final Thoughts

To be perfectly honest with you, I'm not sure why the Drew Estate Undercrown ShadyXX Belicoso exists. It's so close to the Undercrown Maduro that I don't know why this one deserves to be called a special or limited edition.

Personal opinions aside, I did have to re-torch the cigar. There was a burn issue that needed to be touched up. However, the overall construction of the ShadyXX I smoked was pretty good. The flavors and draw were also pretty good.

But because the cigar is a little expensive and not really worthy of being a special edition, the Drew Estate Undercrown ShadyXX Belicoso earns a CigarScore 4.
