Monte’s is certainly the most comfortable place to smoke a cigar in Albuquerque, perhaps on earth. Great selection, multi-level well-furnished lounge, and friendly staff always make me feel like a big shot. Truly a legendary place.

I’m definitely going back
I’ve never smoked a cigar before went in blind and they hooked it up with a sampler and a stick that I am now I love with. The 2 gentleman in the front were super helpful hooked it up with some amazing smoke and a good cutter were super informational every question big or small was answered with no judgement of me not knowing. I’m definitely going back and am kinda interested in becoming a member.

I’ve been to cigar stores in many cities, and Monte’s is one if the best. Large humidor, nice staff, and large variety of cigars.

Owners and customers are all like a welcoming tribe
I’ve been shopping and smoking at Monte’s since 1977 and have been through 3 generations of the Monte family running the joint. It was once in a strip mall where the owners got complaints from other stores about us, those vile cigar smokers. So now, Monte’s is in a free-standing building with 3 levels. Large humidor with a good selection. The only reason I’m giving Monte’s only 4 stars is because it went downhill for a while. Fewer dinners and parties for members, etc., but it is working it’s way back to 5 stars. Everyone who comes in is instantly greeted with very warm brotherly friendship. (Which, like all good cigar joints, means that there is a lot of ball busting going on once we get to know you.) Owners and customers are all like a welcoming tribe. So join us.

I am a frequent traveler, so I have the opportunity to visit cigar lounges all around the world. Monte’s one of my new favorite lounges to go to. Great stick, great staff, and great regulars!

Great lounge, I go at least once per week. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about cigars. The lounge is nice and spacious as well.

a beautiful multi-level lounge
I’ve been coming to Monte’s for about 4 months now and it’s true, it’s pretty unassuming from the outside but once you go inside it’s a beautiful multi-level lounge with comfortable leather chairs, couches and nice tables and furnishings in general; the walk-in humidor is spacious and well-stocked; and the owner, Matt, is doing a great job running the place; they have a great room of lockers for members and the others who help him run the business are all personable and know their business and inventory well; I come from hack East (NY & NJ) and this is nicer than many of the cigar shops and lounges back there; I’m here with my cigar buddies at least every Saturday afternoons and some Friday afternoons as well; I give it 5 stars

From the outside, Monte’s looks questionable. If you don’t know it’s there, you might miss it. And the parking lot is pretty small. However, inside, they’ve got a great selection of cigars – perhaps the only place in ABQ that sells Davidoff, and a large and spacious lounge. On the main floor you’ll find a room filled with membership lockers. Below that, offices and another great lounge area. I really like this place and plan to go back!
