If you're anywhere close, do yourself a favor and stop in

I found this place while I was in the area visiting family last summer. It’s near a corner of the town square in downtown Noblesville. The shop didn’t appear very big based on the size of the storefront that faces the street, but don’t let that fool you. It’s half a city block deep so there’s a lot of room for everything that’s packed into this shop. There’s parking on the street all the way around the town square, and a few lots close by that are a short walk to the shop when things get busy on the square. (Many restaurants nearby.) I found the staff to be super friendly and very knowledgeable, which was an added bonus since I’m fairly new to the hobby of cigars. They made some nice suggestions that I found to be very enjoyable sticks. The walk-in humidor is a decent size with a selection that was much larger than I could fathom as a newbie, and yet that was only part of their stock; plenty of humidified cabinets line the wall opposite the walk-in which expands the available choices. (I’m not a pipe smoker so I can’t really judge that side of the house, but they have a selection of pipe tobacco as well.) Cigar prices are VERY reasonable based on other shops I’ve visited both in Indiana and in my home state of California. The smoking lounge is in the middle of the store with maybe 15 or so high-backed, comfortable leather chairs (I didn’t count exactly.) Plenty of fans and other air handling equipment keep the room pleasant; smoke is quickly pulled to the ceiling and ventilated. The room has a large TV in the front corner that usually has movies playing, with a smaller TV to the side with a news channel on. Two other TVs (one on each of the side walls) usually have a sporting event on them. Plenty of ash trays and matches scattered around the room on several tables, and the staff said they try to keep a small box of cedar spills stocked for those who want the “full experience”. The shop has a small bar in the back that serves beer and mixed drinks, but I didn’t venture in the back to check it out. I visited the shop a couple more times during that summer and found the experience to be consistent with my initial visit. I am back in Indiana visiting family again, so I stopped in again today and I was not disappointed. Same friendly staff, same good suggestions, and a relaxing smoke. I still haven’t checked out the bar…yet. Maybe next time. If you’re anywhere close, do yourself a favor and stop in to see the guys at Carmack’s. They’ll take good care of you.
