Initial Thoughts:
Here at CigarScore HQ, we love trying new cigars. And, today's cigar comes from Martinez Cigars, a boutique brand based in New York City. Today we're smoking their Martinez 45 Series Maduro Torpedo.
The first three things I noticed about this cigar were visual.
First, I noticed that the torpedo end on this cigar isn't sharp like some cigars. In the case of the Martinez 45 Series Maduro Torpedo, the end is blunted or rounded. Second, after removing the cigar from its protective cellophane, I noticed that the end cap was flipping up, and this cigar should've been redone. Third, the wonderful wrapper looks to have some amazing toothiness to it.
In addition to the visual things, I noticed how fragrant the Martinez 45 Series Maduro Torpedo was. It smelled really good. After lighting the cigar, the aroma of the smoke was fantastic, with floral notes and something that smelled delicious. So, despite one visual flaw around the cap, we're off to a great start.
Once I lit the Martinez 45 Series Maduro Torpedo my expectations were raised even more. The draw was fantastic and I got plenty of smoke. The flavors were bold and spicy but not overwhelming. I tasted leather and wonderful flavors of rich tobacco.

Final Thoughts
The first half of the Martinez 45 Series Maduro Torpedo was absolutely wonderful. However, the final third, perhaps the entire second half, wasn't quite as delicious as the first half. Whereas the first half was spicy and bold and full of flavor, the second half was fairly mild.
In my opinion, two things hurt this cigar and keep it from being absolutely amazing. I think if Martinez could drop the price to around $12-$13 per cigar, they'd have a winner. Combine a slightly slower price point with amazing flavors that continued through the entire cigar, and you'd have an absolute rockstar experience.
However, this cigar delivered a really enjoyable experience and I'd smoke it again. So, for these reasons, the Martinez 45 Series Maduro Torpedo earns a CigarScore 4.
