Cigar Review: Drew Estate ACID 20 Connecticut Bronxilla

Long time viewers of the channel will know that I’ve not always been a fan of flavored & infused cigars. However, after all these years, I’ve come to appreciate a sweet cigar either at the end of the night, or to shake things up. If you’ve come to the same realization, or if you’re just curious, check out the Flavored & Infused Club Cigar Subscription.

To celebrate 20 years of ACID cigars, Drew Estate released the ACID 20 and ACID 20 Connecticut. To follow up, and pay homage to their New York heritage, they release a special vitola, the Bronxilla.

When I reviewed the ACID 20 Connecticut Toro, I thought it was like an Undercrown Shade, but sweet. As someone who doesn’t normally smoke flavored & infused cigars, but who loves the UC Shade, I appreciated just an added bit of sweetness to one of my favorite lighter cigars.

Initial Thoughts

And that was my expectation with the Drew Estate ACID 20 Connecticut Bronxilla. Immediately I could taste the sugary-sweet flavored tip. However, that sweet taste did not translate to the smoke’s aroma, and the Bronxilla just smelled like a regular cigar.

Will the ACID 20 CT Bronxilla be as good as the ACID 20 CT Toro? Let’s find out.

While I don’t usually compare one cigar against another one, I think, in the case of the two vitolas of ACID 20 Connecticut cigars, it’s appropriate. That said, after smoking the Bronxilla, I didn’t think it was the same quality of tobacco as in the original, normal run toro.

Final Thoughts

After smoking the Drew Estate ACID 20 Connecticut Bronxilla for just over an hour, I have to say, I don’t like it as much as the toro. The Bronxilla had a much more grassy flavor, and it really needed the sweet tip to balance out those almost bitter flavors. However, it needed more sugar to balance the grassiness.

If you’re considering getting into the world of sweet, flavored, or infused cigars, try the ACID 20 CT toro first. I think it’s better than the Bronxilla. The Drew Estate ACID 20 Connecticut Bronxilla earns a CigarScore 4.
