Cigar Review: AJ Fernandez New World Cameroon Selection Doble Robusto

Initial Thoughts:

Today's cigar is a variant of one of the first cigars we reviewed on the channel and the very first one we were asked to review by a viewer. Today we're going to review the AJ Fernandez New World Cameroon Selection Doble Robusto. Ya, it's a mouthful.

The first thing I noticed about the AJFNWCSDR… ugh, so many words, was the medium-brown, leather-looking wrapper leaf I assumed was from Cameroon. The second thing I noticed was a slightly musty aroma to the cigar before I lit it; the New World Cameroon reminded me of an old cedar chest.

After cutting the cigar, the draw had good resistance and was filled with notes of cedar. Once I'd lit the cigar, however, I got interesting flavors of spice and leather.

Through the middle of the AJ Fernandez New World Cameroon Selection Double Robusto, the flavors were good – it had a little spice, a little sweetness, and it was interesting.

Final Thoughts

The AJ Fernandez New World Cameroon Selection Doble Robusto is a very approachable and smokable cigar. It has a great price point, good construction, and interesting flavors.

However, in the final third, some of the sweetness I enjoyed disappeared, and the flavors became just a tad harsh.

Had the flavors remained good for the entire smoke and if I could have enjoyed it all the way through the end this cigar would've scored higher. But, the AJ Fernandez New World Cameroon Selection Double Robusto earns a CigarScore 4.
