Initial Thoughts:
Sometimes you want to sit down for a nice, long smoke. Other times, you've already had a cigar today, but you want another one and you don't want to spend a lot of money. Or, maybe you just don't want to spend a lot of your hard-earned cash on a cigar in the first place.
Whatever the case may be, today's cigar, the Buffalo Ten Natural Toro BP is a cigar that won't cost you just a ton of money.
Visually, the Buffalo Ten Natural Toro BP looks more “box smooshed” than box-pressed. Instead of being more square, it was, well, flatter. The Natural (they also have a maduro) was medium brown in color and the wrapper leaf was very smooth.
With a quick cut, the cigar had a great draw, but it was perhaps a little too loose. And, since this cigar comes in at right at five bucks, things could get very interesting.
CigarScore:
Brand: Buffalo Ten
Line: Natural
Size: 6 x 50 BP
Cut: V-Cut
Light: Torch
Price: $5.00
Wrapper: Ecuadorian Habano
Binder: Indonesia
Filler: Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, United States
Smoke Time: 63 minutes
Through the middle of the cigar, the burn was pretty even and the draw was pretty good. The construction wasn't bad for a five-dollar cigar. Also, the smoke was fairly clean on the palate, and I didn't get much of an aftertaste, which was nice.
Final Thoughts
In the final third of the Buffalo Ten Natural Toro BP, the flavors were just okay and the cigar started to get quite hot to the touch at the end. That said, this doesn't taste like a $5 “budget” cigar.
However, the cigar did feel a little “thin” and under-filled. Box pressed cigars generally have less tobacco in them than traditional, round cigars, but I think this cigar could've used an extra leaf or two. While the draw was good, it would've been better had it be a little tighter.
But, overall, this cigar punches way above its weight class and outperforms most other sticks in this price range. Although the flaws were minor, they were there. I would absolutely smoke this one again, so the Buffalo Ten Natural Toro BP earns a CigarScore 4.
