Cigar Review: Danli Honduras Don Juan Calavera Maduro Toro

Initial Thoughts:

Today we continue our series of blind cigar reviews, where our goal is to provide you with a totally objective, completely neutral review of a cigar. Ellory went into this review completely blind; that means without knowing what it is, who made it, how much it costs, or what's in it. To see the entire series of blind cigar reviews, click here.

The first thing I noticed about the Danli Honduras Don Juan Calavera Maduro Toro was that it looked super-premium. Visually, the cigar was perfect. The wrapper was nice and oily and had some huge leaves wrapped around it making for minimal seems.

NOTE: Actually, the first thing I noticed was the awesome label. But, since this was another blind review, talking about that comes later.

Regarding the aroma, the Don Juan Calavera smelled like ginger and flowers, perhaps even rose petals. On the cold draw, I tasted hints of cinnamon.

Through the first few minutes, the draw was good, the flavors were good, but the burn was mostly uneven.

Final Thoughts

For the most part, the Danli Honduras Don Juan Calavera Maduro Toro hit all the right points. The flavors were leathery and spicy, the construction was mostly good, and I enjoyed the cigar.

The only thing I'd have changed about this cigar would be for it to have had a slightly more open draw. Other than that, a great cigar at a great price. I would recommend it! So, the Danli Honduras Don Juan Calavera Maduro Toro earns a CigarScore 5.
