Cigar Review: Henry Clay Limited Edition 2018

Initial Thoughts:

When I picked up this Henry Clay Limited Edition 2018 out of my June 2019 box from CIGRco, I was pretty skeptical. The cigar didn't feel premium it was very stiff, and it was from a brand I was unfamiliar with.

My first impressions of the Henry Clay aren't good. However, I've heard that Altadis is trying to bring the Henry Clay brand back to prominence, so this cigar could be a sleeper to watch out for!

Final Thoughts:

Although I gave it my best effort, I could not finish this cigar. The flavors of the Henry Clay Limited Edition 2018 weren't good and the aftertaste wasn't pleasant. However, the draw was good and I had no trouble getting plenty of smoke on each puff.

But in the world of $10-$12 cigars, the Henry Clay does not deserve to be there. Because I couldn't finish it, I couldn't possibly recommend it to you. And, for those reasons alone, the Henry Clay Limited Edition 2018 earns a paltry CigarScore 1.

  1. You really need to buy a 5 pack and properly humidify them before attempting to smoke a cigar and give a review. This cigar is rated 93 and has an overwhelmingly positive review history. I, personally love this cigar and it is very Cuban-esque with excellent flavors from start to finish.

    1. Hey BDK! Thanks for tuning in and leaving a comment.

Thanks for the feedback, but I’m ok with judging a cigar based on a single smoke. The odds of a lemon are low enough that it should be pretty rare thing to get a bad one if the rest are good.

My humidity is pretty spot on, and I either buy from a local lounge, or I get cigars shipped from a club that ships with humidity control. And, I rarely smoke a cigar I just received.

Thanks for your thoughts, and I appreciate you taking the time to comment!
