Cigar Review: La Herencia Cubana Oscuro Fuerte Toro

Yet another brand from AJ Fernandez, La Herencia Cubana cigars are made at Tabacalera Fernandez in Esteli, Nicaragua.

Initial Thoughts

The La Herencia Cubana Oscuro Fuerte Toro is a great-looking cigar. The Pennsylvania Broadleaf wrapper is dark and smooth, with just a touch of peach-fuzz. Other than a slightly imperfect fold in the cap, the Osuco Fuerte was visually perfect.

On the cold draw, the flavors were very woody, like saw dust. Once lit, there was a lot of spice on the retrohale, but there were also hints of something creamy and smooth. After a few minutes, all sweetness disappeared, and the Pennsylvania Broadleaf became the star of the show.

Is the La Herencia Cubana Oscuro Fuerte Toro worth almost $10? Let’s find out.

Final Thoughts

I was able to smoke the La Herencia Cubana Oscuro Fuerte Toro for a wallet-appropriate hour and a half. And, while the construction was basically perfect, I didn’t really love the flavors. I tasted a lot of the Pennsylvania Broadleaf, but there wasn’t much complexity beyond that.

While I didn’t love how it tasted, the La Herencia Cubana Oscuro Fuerte Toro earns a CigarScore 5.
