Initial Thoughts
If you've never heard of Lampert Cigars, you're not alone. I too was once unaware of this boutique brand, so when I received the curtly-named Lapert Gatsby Torpedo, I was curious.
The Lampert Gatsby Torpedo is a great-looking cigar that, at first glance, seems perfectly constructed.
Before lighting it, the cigar smelled like something sweet and leathery. On the cold draw, tasted fresh, cedar shavings. Once lit, the Lampert Gatsby Torpedo was quite sweet and had a buttery-smooth taste to it that I really enjoyed.
Regardless of how I felt about the Lampert Gatsby Torpedo in the first 30 seconds, within the first two minutes, I experienced a massive canoe and a hole in the side of the cigar.
While I liked the first flavors, the construction made me wonder if the Lampert Gatsby Torpedo is worth $15. Stick around and see what happens!

Final Thoughts
After just under 75 minutes, it was time to put the Lampert Gatsby Torpedo down. In the first two-thirds of the cigar, the buttery sweetness of the first puffs continued. However, in the final third, some spiciness showed up to offer some nice complexity.
Other than the significant canoe in the first 2 minutes, the construction was pretty fantastic. Take that early error away and you have a great smoking experience.
Overall, the Lampert Gatsby Torpedo earns a CigarScore 4.
