Cigar Review: Macanudo Inspirado Tercio Aged Toro

Initial Thoughts

When Macanudo created their Inspirado line, they breathed new life into their cigar brand. The changes they made brought the name Macanudo out of the dusty halls of obsolescence and back into the mouths of people who like to talk about cigars.

Today’s cigar, the Macanudo Inspirado Tercio-Aged is a limited edition release that utilizes a near-extinct aging process to create a complex and timeless flavor comparable to Old-World cigars

From Macanudo: “Where many seek innovation and chase the outlandish, we look to our experience to guide us to the exceptional. For Inspirado Tercio-Aged, we applied an Old-World aging technique using large palm bark-wrapped bales, called tercios, to create a cigar that is both contemporary and classic. This time-honored process involves aging the tobacco in the bark of a Royal Palm, locking in the tobaccoโ€™s natural flavors. Building and wrapping the tercios requires a special skill possessed by only a few of our most experienced craftsmen and consumes a considerable amount of time. We think youโ€™ll agree that itโ€™s time well spent.”

The Macanudo Inspirado Tercio-Aged Toro is a dry-ish cigar with a very textured wrapper. It looks good, but is it enough to make us want to smoke more Macanudo cigars? Let’s find out.

Final Thoughts

After 82 minutes, the Macanudo Inspirado Tercio-Aged Toro was both light on flavor and light in body. I was expecting something a little bolder, and this cigar wasn’t quite it. I wish the amount of flavor had been turned up a little more.

That said, from what I could taste, the flavors were good. Also, the construction of this cigar was really good.

While I wanted more of this cigar, I can’t criticize the cigar for leaving me filled with desire. The Macanudo Inspirado Tercio-Aged Toro earns a CigarScore 5.
