Cigar Review: Perdomo Double Aged 12 Year Maduro Epicure Toro

When I first discovered the Perdomo Double Aged 12 Year line of cigars back in 2019, I became a huge fan. We reviewed the Perdomo Double Aged 12 Year Vintage Maduro Epicure (for the first time) back in January of 2019, and then the Churchill vitola here a few weeks later. Today we're going back to the Perdomo Double Aged 12 Year Maduro Epicure to see how this cigar is doing five and a half years later.

Initial Thoughts

I normally drink water during cigar reviews. It keeps my palate as neutral as possible, and allows me to focus on the cigar. But, with the Perdomo Double Aged 12 Year Maduro Epicure Toro, and after having had dozens of these cigars over the last few years, I decided to pair it with Bulleit Bourbon.

Visually, the dark Perdomo Double Aged 12 Year Maduro Epicure is almost perfect. The toothy Nicaraguan Maduro wrapper is a deep grayish-brown and the filler tobacco is more medium and leather-toned. Before lighting the cigar, the tobacco aromas were mostly leafy and woody.

Once lit, the Double Aged Maduro offered flavors that, while smooth, were woody, rustic, and somewhat unrefined.

Will the Perdomo Double Aged 12 Year Maduro Epicure Toro be as good as I remember? And, is it a good cigar even if you're not drinking bourbon with it? Let's find out.

Final Thoughts

After smoking the Perdomo Double Aged 12 Year Maduro Epicure Toro for right at 90 minutes, my only real complaint was that the cigar got quite warm early in the final third. A minor issue, but the best cigars tend to stay cool right up to the point where there's nothing left to hold.

Nitpicking aside, this cigar had a great smoke time. The creamy and spicy flavors were wonderful. The construction was perfect. Today's cigar in 2024, like the ones 5 year ago was great. The Perdomo Double Aged 12 Year Maduro Epicure Toro earns a CigarScore 5.
