Cigar Review: RoMa Craft Neanderthal JCF Robusto Larga

When I reviewed the RoMa Craft Neanderthal SGP “petite robusto” vitola of the Neanderthal back in 2019, I had some construction issues. And, I was relatively new to the world of reviewing cigars with a critical eye. A lot has changed in the last 6 or so years, so I’m excited to take a second look at this RoMa Craft Neanderthal in the slightly longer but narrower JCF Robusto Larga.

Initial Thoughts

Right off the bat, the unique thing about the RoMa Craft Neanderthal JCF Robusto Larga is its flat head. Taking the Neanderthal line to the next iteration, the JCF Robusto features the signature burnt orange label and a Mexican San Andres wrapper.

Once lit, the Neanderthal JCF Robusto Larga came on full strength. They bold Mexican wrapper was matched by the strong Broadleaf binder, and tasted mildly sweet, slightly spicy, and very full-bodied.

Final Thoughts

I was able to enjoy the RoMa Craft Neanderthal JCF Robusto Larga for almost 85 minutes. And while the final third wasn’t as delicious as the first two thirds, the perfect construction made up for it.

I like the blend of flavors in this cigar. And, while it’s a little expensive for a robusto, the RoMa Craft Neanderthal JCF Robusto Larga earns a CigarScore 5.
