Cigar Review: Romeo y Julieta Envy Amulet Toro (2023)

Initial Thoughts

I love revisiting older, more established cigar brands like Romeo y Julieta, Macanudo, Montecristo, and others. In their mission to stay relevant, they're coming out with new blends to capture the attention of cigar smokers everywhere.

Today's cigar, the Romeo y Julieta Envy Amulet Toro, is just such a cigar that comes out once a year, in one vitola. The vitola (size) for 2023? A 6 x 55 toro.

The Romeo y Julieta Envy Amulet Toro is a good-looking cigar with a semi-oily Nicaraguan wrapper that's almost flawless.

On the cold draw, the flavors were of a light-colored wood, and perhaps lime and other citrus.

One of my favorite cigars is a Plasencia, and the Romeo y Julieta Envy Amulet Toro is another Nicaraguan puro made at the same factory. Is it as good? Let's find out.

Through the middle of the cigar, about 30 minutes in, I didn't think I was smoking it fast, but I was about 1/2 way through. The construction was good, but the draw was a little loose.

So far, the flavors have been good and enjoyable. The Romeo y Julieta Envy Amulet Toro had plenty of nice spice and something to smooth it out. The smoke output was fantastic.

Final Thoughts

I kind of liked the Romeo y Julieta Envy Amulet Toro from 2023. My main issue with this cigar is the price. Though it's well made, I'm not sure it'll be worth your $20.

Regarding the flavors, they were smooth with a little bit of spice. Overall, the construction of the cigar was perfect. Even down to the nub, this cigar was enjoyable. The Romeo y Julieta Envy Amulet Toro from 2023 earns a CigarScore 5.
