Cigar Review: Room 101 Los Statos Deluxe Maduro Toro

Initial Thoughts

The Room 101 Los Statos Deluxe Maduro Toro is a very mysterious cigar. It comes wrapped in white parchment paper that's wrapped again in blue and white paper keeping this cigar's appearance a total secret.

Once the paper was pulled back, the LS Deluxe Maduro revealed a veiny and dark United States Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper leaf that had just a touch of oiliness to it.

When going to cut the cigar, I had quite a bit of difficulty despite my sharp v-cutter. This was due to a thick stem right at the shoulder. Once I pulled out the troublesome stem, the draw was still a little bit tight. A couple of minutes in, I not only still had a tight draw, but there was a hollow spot right inside the foot that gave me trouble.

The Room 101 Los Statos Deluxe Maduro Toro got off to a rough start. Is this mysterious and secretive cigar worth just under $10? Let's find out.

Final Thoughts

On one hand, I really enjoyed the Room 101 Los Statos Deluxe Maduro Toro. On the other, it let me down in a couple of ways. First, the hollow spot at the very beginning really set a bad tone for the cigar. Second, while smoking the final third, the wrapper busted open and split.

However, I enjoyed the flavors of this cigar quite a bit. The Room 101 Los Statos Deluxe Maduro is bold but sweet, and I thought it was delicious.

For this cigar, the construction issues prevented this tasty cigar from scoring higher. The hollow spot in the filler and the wrapper leaf that popped open at the end led to the Room 101 Los Statos Deluxe Maduro Toro earning a CigarScore 4.
