Initial Thoughts
Over here at CigarScore, we get to smoke a lot of great cigars. Some of these great cigars are under $10, others are more than $25.
Other still, like today's cigar, the Alfonso Produccion Limitada No. 2, are $40 each.
Price aside, this cigar from Selected Tobacco looks great. The wrapper leaf has a nice caramel-color to it and the veins are perfectly pressed. Visually, my Alfonso Produccion Limitada No. 2 was stunning.
Once cut, the cigar had a perfect draw. The pre-light (cold draw) flavors were woody, something like pine or cedar. Once lit, the aroma of the smoke was delicious.
What, if anything, makes the Alfonso Produccion Limitada No. 2 robusto worth $40? I hope to find out.

Through the first 20 minutes of this cigar, I struggled to find the value in this cigar. While I've smoked hundreds of “breakfast cigars” or cigars you'd want to pair with coffee, I don't yet see how the Alfonso Produccion Limitada No. 2 fits into that category.
Final Thoughts
After smoking the Alfonso Produccion Limitada No. 2 for about 72 minutes, I had mixed feelings about the cigar.
On the one hand, it was pretty good. The flavors were smooth and slightly citrusy, and there was no harshness whatsoever. If you've got a rich friend, or if, perhaps, you don't mind spending $40 an hour to smoke cigars, the Alfonso Produccion Limitada No. 2 might be exactly what you're looking for.
On the other hand, this cigar was $40 in 2023. And I don't think it smokes like a $40 cigar.
But this cigar hit every detail. The flavors were good, the construction was nearly perfect, and the smoke time was spot on for this vitola. The Alfonso Produccion Limitada No. 2 robusto earns a CigarScore 5.
