Initial Thoughts
While you shouldn't (and can't) judge a cigar by its wrapper, a lot of the flavors of a cigar come from the leaf that wraps the cigar. Today we're reviewing the Padron 1964 Anniversary Maduro Exclusivo, just about a week after reviewing 1964 Natural, to compare the two cigars. The Natural lived up to the hype; will the Maduro?
On the cold draw, the Padron 1964 Anniversary Maduro Exclusivo had perfect resistance, and the flavors were of wood, primarily cedar.
The first puff was almost candy-like but then changed to musty wood. And, in contrast to the 1964 Natural I reviewed, the 1964 Maduro doesn't taste like a classic Padron.
CigarScore:

Price: $13.99

Through the middle of the Padron 1964 Anniversary Maduro Exclusivo, the flavors were more mild than expected. I tasted leather, spice, earth, and something a little spicy. But I wish the draw had been a little more open.
Final Thoughts
While I wouldn't say that the Padron 1964 Anniversary Maduro Exclusivo blew my mind, I would say that it was a pretty good cigar.
The construction of this cigar was perfect. I had no complaints about the 1964 Maduro, but I don't know if it was good enough to convert anyone to smoking Padron's cigars. This cigar is absolutely worth trying and I would recommend it. The Padron 1964 Anniversary Maduro Exclusivo earns a CigarScore 5.
